Rock Sound are calling them a mix between The 1975, Don Broco and Deaf Havana, and that’s pretty spot on. Zeals are a Pop-Rock band from Weston-Super-Mare and their latest EP ‘Ready To Fly’ dropped today!
It’s Pop-Rock done perfectly, it’s radio ready catchy hooks make it perfect listening material for those late summer evenings (or what we get of them here in the U.K.!)
Comparing Zeals to these bands (like The 1975) takes nothing away from the originality of ‘Ready To Fly’.
Track one Feel It is a plethora of tropical guitar licks, it’s a real singalong track, it’s cheery without being cheesy, a perfect summer tune!
Things really kick up a gear in track two and three! Do You Really Care is anthemic and perfectly beat heavy. Paddles is where the EP really kicks off and shows that Zeals can throw out something more gritty, something sexy!
Track four Dark Waters has an amazing balance that builds fantastically before it explodes, making the choruses come out triumphantly!
The final track on the EP, the title track, Ready To Fly is as anthemic as the rest. It starts with some beautiful synths, its heartfelt and the melody flows wonderfully. Heart and soul has been put into this EP and it’s music that everyone needs on their radio. If you don’t hear these guys everyday on the morning commute in the next couple of years, I’ll be more than shocked. Overall a fantastic EP from Zeals.
