Band Features Reviews

Cold Summer, For The Love Of Music.

Cold Summer are a 4-piece post hardcore band based in Leeds UK. Their latest release ‘Fight to Survive’ really packs that punch of a band that is on their way to some great things.

After forming in 2011 Cold Summer produced and released 2 EPs, Transitions & Wake both in 2012 and a self titled album in 2013. Their passion to do what they love most spurred them on to self booking an album release tour and a UK tour with US band ‘He is Legend’ this enthusiasm, self motivation and determination led them on to supporting bands such as Funeral for a Friend, Polar, Self Defense Family, Lemuria, Employed To Serve and Sorority Noise to name a few. Their upcoming shows including one with Australian band ‘Hellions’ are going to be a real party so make sure to get down to one if you can!

Saturday 25th February- The Key Club, Leeds. Supporting Hellions and Acres

Thursday 9th March – The Hop, Wakefield (Headline Show)

Sunday 28th May – King Street Crawl Snooty Fox Club, Wakefield.

Now Enough of the facts and onto this energetic, exciting and emotional latest release ‘Fight to Survive’ I was listening to it for hours on end just yesterday and it seriously is awesome. After checking it out a few months ago I still find myself playing the songs off this EP every day. From track one ‘Bear Eats Wolf’ you get the feeling of what Cold Summer are all about, raw emotion, Power and Explosiveness. It’s an angst filled passionate portrayal of their punk and hardcore roots and they do it outstandingly.

There are a couple of songs that really stand out for me on Fight to Survive ‘Car Crash (In Progress)’ is a great sounding, refined and emotionally driven track that shows off how talented Cold Summer are and it’s that song that makes me super excited for the next release that the guys are currently focused on writing. Another song that really jumps out and grabs me is track two ‘A Time Imagination Forgot To Inspire’ it’s just so contagious and catchy and it really makes you sit up and listen. Overall it’s a great EP that deserves a lot more success and if anyone deserves it it’s these guys.

After sharing a few emails with Justin from the band it’s really clear that Cold Summer have every ounce of determination and love for music to turn their passion into something they can share with thousands of people worldwide. This is a band that deserve to get far. They’ve worked so hard so check them out, you will be very glad you did.
